Cycling around the Castello de Rugat area

Both road and mountain cycling are hugely popular in this area, with locals and visitors alike. The variety of terrains and scenery, together with the weather, and good quality quiet roads, bring cycling professionals and enthusiasts from far and wide to test their stamina and fitness.

Various cycling events are held around the area, and the Spanish version of the Tour de France, La Vuelta a España, (or Tour of Spain) has visited several times, and came right past the village just a few years ago.

From early Spring to early Summer seems to be the most popular time of year for serious training but lycra clad two wheeled athletes ride here throughout the year. In summer though, most start out very early in the morning and finish their ride before lunch time.
